Sharlene and I have been talking about her wedding day since over a year ago… before she got engaged even. Before I had even shot a single wedding. Sharlene kept me in the loop during the entire process. She’d often text me in the middle of the day asking my opinion about timelines, venues, first looks, and she even sent me pictures of her engagement after it happened and a picture of her dress the day she picked it. I love having more than just a “photographer/subject” relationship with all of my clients, but with Sharlene, she took that to a whole new level. From the moment we met, she just exuded the warmness and familiarity of someone you’ve known for a long time.

Sharlene was a unique bride in that she was actually the first person to ever book me for a wedding. Now, in the time between when she booked me and her wedding day, I’d shoot about 10 weddings, but she was the first bride to ever trust me with her big day. And I could not have chosen a better person or couple to have my first wedding booked with. Not only was Sharlene one of the friendliest, most personable people I have ever met, but her  fiancé (now husband) Mark was equally inviting and the two of them together truly was magical. It’s impossible not to smile when you see these two together, because they just beam at each other. It’s not surprise really, because these two met at Disneyland (hence the title of this blog) and then eventually also got engaged there. In face, they’re honeymooning in Disney World as we speak!

Needless to say, their wedding was also magical and I’m so happy they chose me of all people to capture it. They got married in Memphis, TN in a beautiful building at Davies Plantation with gorgeous grounds. You wouldn’t be able to tell from the pictures, but it was about 90 and humid as all get out outside, although any humidity feels like a lot to me now that I’m living in Colorado… But I’ll let you see for yourself.
